Baber commends Botitu and Tamani

Fiji Airways men’s 7s youngster Vilimoni Botitu is highly likely to stay at playmaker in the Vancouver tournament this weekend.

The 20-year-old moved from rover to playmaker after Waisea Nacuqu’s collarbone was fractured and he was ruled out of the 2018/19 world 7s series.

Coach Gareth Baber says the departure of Nacuqu has left a big gap in the squad and he is commending Botitu and Teri Tamani for stepping in.

“Obviously the loss of Wise Nacuqu was a big hit to us but I thought Botitu and particularly Teri Tamani had it also in Vegas and we didn’t get it all right and its more exposure for the two especially for Botitu who played out in a position from rover to playmaker and I will continue do that heading into the weekend.”

Fiji plays Kenya in its first pool match at 6.36am Sunday and will then take on Canada at 10.08am before meeting Samoa in its last pool match at 2.02pm.
