Australia hopes to defend Sydney 7s title

The Australia 7s side is confident it can bounce back and defend the Sydney title this weekend.

The Aussie side bundled out of the quarter-final in Hamilton after losing 24-17 to New Zealand last weekend.

Captain Lewis Holland says he hopes fans will come out in numbers to help the side defend the title.

“There is always massive defending the title. We have not won any title so far this year so we looking to get back at the top we were and hopefully we can do it at home and we can keep that momentum.”

Australia is pooled with South Africa, Argentina, and Tonga at the Sydney 7s.

Meanwhile, the Fiji 7s side begins its campaign against Japan at 12.34pm this Saturday, then faces England at 6.02pm and plays Samoa in its final pool match at 10.07pm.

The Cup quarter-final kicks off at 1.16pm on Sunday, semi-final at 5.16pm while the cup final is scheduled for 9.54pm.
