All Blacks 7s side hopes to climb on top of series standings

The All Blacks 7s side has set its focus to getting back into the number one position of the World 7s series standings.

Captain Tim Mikkelson says they are hoping to make a comeback in Vancouver and lift the title.

“For us, we started well on the tournament and lost to an extremely USA team and looking forward to having a good start here in Canada this weekend.”

The All Blacks Sevens finished third last weekend in Las Vegas, dropping the semi-final to eventual winners the USA.

The Clark Laidlaw-coached side is second with 93 points, the USA is leading with 98 points while Fiji sits on third place with 84.

The All Blacks side won the inaugural Canada Sevens in 2016 with a 19-14 victory over South Africa in the Cup Final.

NZ is pooled with Australia, Spain, and France in Pool C.
