Preparations for the Oceania Nations Cup football tournament next year are well underway.
Fiji Under-17 coach, Shalend Lal has begun his search for talent, starting with the Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup tournament at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Friday.
“It’s very hard to select the Under 17 and Under 20 teams this year just because of the standard of players that we have got from the development centres and centre of excellence. The under 17 selections is underway and I’m doing it while Mr. Yongendra Dutt is doing the selection for the Under 20.”
The Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup features16 teams from around the country.
Lal will announce the national Under-17 football squad after the final on Sunday for the Oceania Nations Cup, which will be held in Fiji next year.
