December 21, 2015 3:32 am

Preparing secondary schools for next month’s Fiji Baileys Coral Coast 7s is quite a challenge.

Nadroga Rugby Union President, Tiko Matwalu made these comments at one of the training sessions today.

Matawalu is currently coaching the Under 19 teams of Cuvu and Nasikawa Vision Colleges.
He adds players have shown a lot of potentials but there is still more to be done.

“We’ve seen alot of changes and improvements in those aspects. It was a challenge starting off with the players and knowing that they are already doing all those kinds of fancy passing they watch in the TV with our seven gladiators. But then we have to bring them down and tell them you need to start with the basics before you can do those kinds of passing.”

Matawalu also adds his first priority was to get the players out of their comfort zone.

Twelve secondary schools have been confirmed to take part in the 2016 Coral Coast 7s which will be held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on the 14th to 16th of January.
