The oldest player in the Vodafone Fiji Futsal side is hoping the team will make the most of its six-match tour in New Zealand this week.

32 year old Hussain Mira Sahib is the only player in the team with previous international futsal experience, after making his debut for the national side in 2004 in Canberra, Australia.

“They are quite determined to take up the challenge and the players are quite positive to do well in this tour. If we get positive results in this tour, we should be doing well in February.”

The national side will take on New Zealand’s Futsal Whites side in a three-match series in the Trans Pacific Cup from tomorrow as well as three friendly matches against Waikato Bay of Plenty, Auckland Futsal Federation, and FC Ferrand of New Caledonia.

The Oceania Futsal Championship will be held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva in February next year and the winner will automatically qualify for the World Futsal Championship in Colombia.
