The ongoing saga between Levuka Weightlifting Club and its parent body Weightlifting Fiji continues.

In a letter received from the club based in Ovalau, its President Peni Tawai has stated that more than one-half of the lifters part of the Oceania Championships will not be allowed to participate after failing to register with WADA by not filling in the anti-doping forms.

Tawai has also stated that Weightlifting President Atma Maharaj has made a false accusation on the Levuka lifters boycotting the championship.

He says that Maharaj claims the lifters have wasted $46,000 paid to the weightlifting institute in New Caledonia.

Tawai says the money was wasted due to ignorant and not paying attention to the athletes’ plea by its parent body.

Meanwhile, numerous calls to Weightlifting Fiji secretary Ritesh Ratiram says they will comment on the issue later.
