Ryan tries to keep Cakau in team

October 31, 2014 12:22 am

Vodafone Fiji sevens rugby coach Ben Ryan says he is working hard to try and keep veteran Setefano Cakau in his squad for the remainder of the season.

Cakau has a contract in Sri Lanka, but Ryan wants the former skipper to continue with the team after his successful outing with the Fiji side at the Gold Coast tournament earlier this month.

Ryan says they are trying to work out a contract for Cakau, which will keep him in the country but there are logistics to be worked on.

The veteran player is being looked upon as one of the key players for the side after Ryan lost several other reps to overseas contracts.

Players like Pio Tuwai, Apisai Naqaliva, Sitiveni Waqa, Samu Saqiwa, Sanivalati Ramuwai and Joeli Lutumailagi have all taken up contracts in Sri Lanka.
