RWC coaching staff could be retained: McKee

December 3, 2015 11:04 pm

Vodafone Flying Fijians coach, John McKee will be looking to contract the coaching staff which guided the team during the recent Rugby World Cup in England.

McKee says backline coach Tabai Matson, scrum guru, Alan Muir and set piece mentor, Frans Ludeke have all shown their interest to continue working with the national side, whenever their respective personal schedules allows it.

McKee says this will all depend on the outcome of a special meeting with World Rugby officials in Nadi next Wednesday, where Fiji Rugby Union will submit its development financial plan for the next two years.

The big aspect of it is the Flying Fijians and I’ll be seeking funding from World Rugby to help us contract those coaches through to 2017.

The fund from World Rugby will go towards the High Performance Unit and will not only be focussed on the Flying Fijians but also the national men’s and women’s 7s sides, Fiji Warriors as well as the national age-grade teams.
