Russia beats Saudi Arabia in the opening match

Russia made a winning start in the World Cup with an impressive 5-0 win over a feeble Saudi Arabia in the tournament’s opening match.

Yuri Gazinsky headed the World Cup’s first goal after 12 minutes, substitute Denis Cheryshev scored twice while Artem Dzyuba and Aleksandr Golovin also got a goal each in the game.

Here how the first goal of this years tournament was scored at Luzhniki Stadium this morning.

Russian team goal scorer, Denis Cheryshev says it feels great to get the first win of the tournament.

“There are no words to express the feeling right now. I happy that we won and I’m happy that I was able to help my team and plus I’m absolutely happy for the team and for my own family.”

Russia will now take on Egypt on Wednesday at 6am while Saudi Arabia plays Uruguay at 3am next Thursday.
