Fiji Under-20 Captain Tevita Ikanivere says minor mistakes cost them the game against Australia.

Ikanivere says they have improved their performance from when they last played New Zealand and they still have a lot to do before their next match.

Ikanivere adds they need to refine their skills and strengthen their attack if they are to bag a win in the Oceania Championship.

“We learned from our mistakes against New Zealand, we brought it up. Unfortunately we didn’t convert when we the chance. We missed three penalties in the first half. We had our chances in the second half and we didn’t convert, a little patience – we just needed that much.”

Fiji will take on Japan in its next Oceania Rugby Championship campaign.
