U20 captain Momoedonu to start for Warriors in tomorrow's WRPC clash

March 11, 2019 7:16 pm

Swire Shipping Fiji Warriors coach Senirusi Seruvakula has named his starting lineup for the World Rugby Pacific Challenge clash against Japan tomorrow at ANZ Stadium.

Head Coach Senirusi Seruvakula has tweaked the run on team slightly to add more height and physicality in the forward line, naming Vodafone Fiji under- 20 Captain Raikabula Momoedonu in the starting line-up.

He says they are hoping to replicate their last week’s performance in tomorrow’s outing.

“He has shown a lot of talent and a lot of confidence for the Under 20 when we were doing us scrimmaging for the last two days and we call him in this week and give him an opportunity and at the same time capping him before he goes to the World Junior Championship. Mosese Voka is going to the locker position and bringing in Momoedonu at the six and that’s the only changes we’ve made.”

The rest of Seruvakula’s forward line will remain consistent with the Fiji Airways Fijian Drua forward pack of Eroni Mawi, Mesulame Dolokoto and Luke Tagi leading the front row and hard running John Dyer at number 8.

Explosive centre Tuidraki Samusamuvodre will start in the 12 jersey after making an impressive impact off the bench against Tonga A and will be joined by newcomer Veresa Tuqovu.

Team captain Frank Lomani says his teammates are aware of the tenacity of the Japanese.

“As a captain, it’s good to trust what the boys can do and I think the boys are looking good yesterday at the training session from the first 15 I think it’s going to be a good game.”

Fiji Warriors will take on Junior Japan at ANZ Stadium in Suva tomorrow.
