Serua beat Macuata in Vanua Cup Challenge

Serua created history today by beating Macuata 20-10 in their first ever encounter in the history of rugby in Fiji.

The two sides met in the third round of the Vodafone Vanua Cup challenge in Labasa this afternoon.

Macuata dominated the first half and was also the first to cross the try line.

But their mistakes cost them dearly, giving away too many penalties to Serua.

At the breather, Serua led at 13 – 5.

The second half saw a much more aggressive Macuata side.

Although they managed only one more try in the second half, they copped a red card.

Serua copped two yellow cards.

A try in the 60th minute of play sealed the game for the visiting side.

The fourth round of the challenge next week sees Macuata face Ovalau in Labasa.

Serua faces Nukuloa, Ra at Thompson Park in Navua.
