Queen Victoria School U18 Rugby Team held their defence line together to upset Lelean Memorial School with a 8-3 win in round three of the Eastern Zone Deans Competition.

The two local Secondary School Rugby giants gave their all and kept their spectators on their feet throughout the game.

They made a repeat of their U17 final at the National level last year where QVS secured the win at the end.

Both sides have 90 percent of their players from last year playing in their respective U18 squad this year.

Following the win, QVS Team Manager Aseri Uluinavucu says that the win is uplifting.

“It’s quite uplifting for the boys in particular, having to know it’s a matter of faith in themselves, it’s a matter of discipline and it’s a matter of working together as a team and in the end, the results are just an outcome of how they work it out.”

Lelean Team Manager Marika Sovaki says they came in the competition expecting tough outings from their opponents.

“All teams are getting to be the top in the Eastern Zone, that the aim of all the team here in the eastern zone and it’s really difficult playing against QVS and RKS but with the boys, we have in our team we believe they can do the job on the field.”

Meanwhile, Lelean last week defeated Deans champion Ratu Kadavulevu School 8-5 in their zone meet.
