Fiji Airways Flying Fijians coach John McKee has justified why Akapusi Qera was left out of the world cup squad.

Qera is playing for English club Hartpury and will not make a fourth world cup appearance.

McKee released his 50 member world cup extended squad two weeks ago without Qera.

The national coach says it was a tough decision to make.

McKee adds the former Flying Fijians skipper is out of form and just could not match the quality of loose forwards Fiji have at the moment.

‘Akapusi has been a great player for Fiji and you know it was a tough decision not to include him in the 50 players but when I look at the players we have in the back-row I think Akapusi just lacking a liitle bit of form there compared to the likes of Viliame Mata, Semi Kunatani, Nemani Nagusa and Peceli Yato we got some very dynamic players in good form’.

Meanwhile, some overseas based players are in the country in the likes of Viliame Mata, Eroni Sau and Leone Nakarawa.

The Flying Fijians will assemble in Suva in two weeks’ time before they play the Maori All Blacks at the ANZ Stadium on the 13th of next month.
