Oceania 7s to serve as regional qualifier for Tokyo 2020

The 2019 Oceania 7s tournament will serve as a regional qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

With the tournament growing in numbers over the years, three new teams will be part of this year’s format.

The Canadian Women’s team, the Japan Men’s and Women’s team will feature this year including Oceania’s Vanuatu Women’s team, who will feature in their first international rugby outing.

Oceania Rugby Competitions Manager Wayne Schuster says teams from around the globe have shown their interest in joining this event.

With the inclusion of the deaf tournament this year Schuster adds this will be an exciting year of competition.

The Oceania 7s tournament kicks off on the 7th to the 9th of November.
