Fiji Airways Flying Fijians Head coach John McKee has full confidence that Fiji will have one of the finest line-ups to the Rugby World Cup.

Following their win over Samoa in their final Pacific Nations Cup match over the weekend, the Flying Fijians have now turned their focus onto the Rugby World Cup.

“We’ve spent a lot of time particularly in the last week assessing our players and looking at our lists and looking at our players across a whole range of criteria and we’re pretty close to the final selection now.”

McKee says while some players might have had limited opportunities to showcase their skills, the selection squad is taking several factors into account before the final team will be named.

“Selection’s not all just on what the players do in the game. There are other factors being taken into account from how they react to training, the leadership they can provide to the team, the understanding of their roles within the game. There are lots of aspects that we are looking at and the team is not just picked solely on what they do in the matches.”

He says the calibre of players is a reflection of the efforts put in by the Fiji Rugby Union.

The Rugby World Cup is set to begin on the 20th of next month and McKee will reveal the final line-up this Friday.
