Macuatu too strong for young Bua side

Macuata has registered its first win in the Vodafone Vanua Cup competition this afternoon.

The side faced a young but strong Bua side to come out victors 22- 18 at the final whistle.

Macuata was leading 12 – 3 at half time with two tries from Wing Penisoni Valesomo.

Bua’s Prop Ro Dovi Tagivetaua scored in the first minutes of the 2nd half to add points to their 3 points from a penalty in the first half.

A penalty against Bua saw Macuata capitalised with a kick, earning them another 3 points taking them up to 15.

A try from Bua’ Wing Jonetani Corivuka and a successful conversion took the side’s points up to 15 to draw with Macuata.

Macuata Blindside Flanker Tevita Tawake scored the winning try which was successfully converted.

Bua had the last say with a successful penalty kick to add three points to their score but it was not enough to secure them a win.

Macuata faces Nasinu in Suva in two weeks time and Bua takes on Cakaudrove.
