The Swire Shipping Fijian Latui plans to score some power tries in the Global Rapid Rugby competition.

A 9-point ‘power try’ is awarded for attacks launched within 22 meters of the scoring team’s own try line.

Coach Senirusi Seruvakula says the team can’t wait to start their campaign on Saturday against Kagifa Samoa.

Seruvakula says no team has scored a ‘power try’ so far and they’d love to do so this weekend.

“I believe it’s not new to them. That’s how the Drua played last year running rugby from the 22 to the try line and that’s one of the new rules in the Global Rapid Rugby. If you run the ball in multiple phases into the 22 you get nine points straight away without any kick for goal. That’s something we look forward to achieving as none of the team have done that to earn nine points.”

Fijian Latui will play Kagifa Samoa at 3:10pm on Saturday at Lautoka’s Churchill park.
