Kunavula out to shine for Flying Fijians

One of the 11 players who will make his debut for the Flying Fijians wants to leave the field on Sunday with nothing left in the tank.

Mesulame Kunavula who was not named in the initial Flying Fijians squad was called in this week and Coach John McKee has named the 24-year-old on the bench.

The former national 7s rep made his debut for the Fiji 7s team at the 2016 Dubai 7s and is also a silver medalist at the last year’s Commonwealth Games.

Kunavula who now plays for Scottish club Edinburgh says he will give everything for Fiji.

‘I will bring everything I think is needed for the team for this week I deliver what I have what I learn for the two weeks of training since back with the boys I will deliver what I have to deliver for the boys and what’s good for the team and it’s a good opportunity for me’.

Meanwhile, 11 players will debut for the Flying Fijians against Barbarians on Sunday.

Five of them have been named in the starting lineup including Manawatu prop Samuela Tawake, former national under 20 Captain Temo Mayanavanua, Reds flyhalf Teti Tela, 2017 RKS Dean’s winning center Jiuta Wainiqolo and Drua fullback Enele Malele.

National under 20 captain Tevita Ikanivere, Tevita Naqali, Mesulame Kunavula, Peni Matawalu, Caleb Muntz and Cyril Reece will come off the bench.

Ratu Veremalua Vugakoto, Eroni Mawi, Sikeli Nabou, Mosese Voka, Johnny Dyer, Eremasi Radrodro, Frank Lomani, Serupepeli Vularika, Patrick Osborne and Asaeli Tikoirotuma completes the starting 15.

Joeli Veitayaki and Mosese Ducivaki are the other capped players on the bench.

The Flying Fijians take on the Barbarians at 3:30am on Sunday
