Kerevi says his new role came as a surprise and he is ready for the new challenge.

“It’s a massive honor. I still can’t believe when they told me. I’m extremely honored. Queensland has a rich of captains and they’ve really served the Reds well and I really want to do the same as well with the boys and Reds as well.”

Coach Brad Thor says Kerevi is one of the most experienced heads in the side despite only making his Super Rugby debut in 2014.

He says has been a force in the Queensland backline since that breakout season and is now an integral part of the Wallabies’ best 23.
