Baber faces mammoth task ahead of Hamilton 7s

January 11, 2019 5:28 am

Fiji Airways men’s 7s coach Gareth Baber will face a mammoth task in selecting the best available forwards for the second leg of the World Rugby series later this month.

With the return of Paula Dranisinukula and Josua Vakurunabili, Baber now has more options in the forwards for the Hamilton 7s.

Other forwards in the team contesting for a spot in the final 13 includes Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Mesulame Kunavula, Apenisa Cakaubalavu, Beniamino Vota and skipper Kalione Nasoko.

Baber says he’s trying to balance a mixture of old players together with new ones to boost the team’s performance.

“You’re obviously trying to get a balance in what you want and you know you’ve got players back like Paula Darunisinukula and Josua Vakurunabili who give you a different assets on the field. And my job is to try and combine them in the best manner possible.”

The Hamilton 7s tournament will be held on the 26th and 27th of this month in New Zealand.
