Rugby pundit denounces Flying Fijians old style

November 18, 2012 5:53 pm

Rugby pundit Graham Eden believes that Fiji’s rugby has not evolved at the pace of other countries resulting in the poor performance on the Europe tour.

He says there is a lot to be done.

“We are still playing a style typical of past periods with little innovation towards modernising our techniques. Little or nothing on modern style of play was seen by others. The game has moved on freedom its formal simplistic base. We have shown under pressure that we haven’t mastered them. It seems we are playing for fun while others are playing for their livelihood.”

Eden’s comments come after the 53-0 drubbing at the hands of Ireland A yesterday morning.

Fiji now faces Georgia in the last match of the tour next weekend.

The Georgians are rated as one of the teams with the best forward packs in the world.
