The Fiji Secondary School Rugby League Board hopes to get more youngsters to secure overseas contracts.
Board Vice President Naira Cama Toko says after missing out last year, they will take an Under-18 team to tour Australia again in April this year.
He says a few players who represented the under-18 national team in the past two years, are now contracted by their respective clubs in Australia.
“We had Semi Valemei last year joining the Canberra Raiders, Jiuta Wainiqolo who joined Cronulla Sharks, Solomoni Naiduki who joined the Parramatta Eels and Josh Thompson who have joined the Canberra Raiders.”
He adds they are emphasizing this tour so that local players can be recognized by overseas NRL clubs.
The final squad will be selected after the quarterfinal in week 10 of the secondary school rugby league competition.
