May 7, 2019 12:24 pm

Sixty local players are expected to be named next week for the Fiji Rugby League side to play three matches against Tonga Residents next month.

But only 25 players will make the final Fiji Residents team.

The Residents will play two games at the ANZ Stadium but Fiji National Rugby League is yet to confirm where the first match will be played.

Vodafone Fiji Bati Coach Brandon Costin says local players have a chance this weekend to impress the coaching staff in the Vodafone Cup.

“So the squad will be formally announced next week, at the moment we have about 60 players that we are looking at and it’s after this weekend’s games when we go and watch who’s playing well and we’ll select the team.”

Costin says he is expecting to see many more talents to be on display at the Vodafone Cup tournament.
