Fiji secondary school girl’s rugby league launched

The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League girl’s competition for the South/ Eastern zone has been launched.

There will be a nines competition held this weekend to pick the best players to represent the South/ Eastern zone during the national finals.

Among one of the competing schools is Latter Day Saints who are looking forward to be part of a new chapter in secondary schools girls’ rugby league in Fiji.

LDS teacher William Ratusaki says the school is impressed with an opportunity to include a girl’s competition into the national event.

“I hope and pray that FNRL and FSSRL will be consistent in having this competition for the girls so that will increase the self-confidence and also the girls in school who like to express themselves in sport this is an opportunity for them to come out of their shells and showcase their talents”

Meanwhile, in the boys division, Queen Victoria School faces Ratu Kadavulevu School at 12.55pm in the under 15 grade final.

Nasinu Secondary School meet RKS in the under 17 at 2.05pm while Nasinu Secondary play RKS in the under-19 final at 3.40pm.

The South/Eastern Zones finals will be held on Saturday at the Saint Marcellin grounds on Saturday.
