It was a proud moment for Vula Dakuitoga for one of the pioneers of rugby league in the country yesterday.

Dakuitoga witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding yesterday between the Fiji National Rugby League and Collin Fraser the Chief Executive of Kaiviti Silktails.

The MOU signals the start of Fiji’s participation in the Ron Massey Cup in Australia next year which is a step closer to the New South Wales Cup competition.

The national side will be known as Kaiviti Silktails and Dakuitoga says he never thought he would live to see this day.

I’m a bit emotional because this is why we took the step back in 1992 after 27 years and it has materialize our next generation our younger players I remember clearly that Sunday when I asked my friend why are we going over to this sport, this is the pathway we can’t’ all play rugby union so this is the pathway’.

More announcements are expected in the coming months from FNRL and the Kaiviti Silktails ahead of their Ron Massey Cup debut next year.
