54 teams to compete in FSSRL competition

SOUTHERN/EASTERN ZONE PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS

54 teams will compete in the Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Rugby League competition which kicks off next week.

This was confirmed at the launching this morning.

FSSRL Vice President Naira Cama Koto says this is an increase of five teams from last year.

“There are about 21 teams in the Southern/Eastern Zone and there are 18 teams in the Ba/Tavua/Ra Zone and there 15 teams in the Lautoka/Nadi Zone which is a record.”

Koto says the competition also sees the inclusion news teams including Rishikul Santan College of Nasinu, Nausori’s Pandit Shir Dar College, Naitasiri Secondary School, William Cross and Nasesevia Secondary School of Nadi.

Meanwhile, Chief Guest, Ministry of Sports Permenant Secretary Maritino Nemani thanked the officials and students contributing to making sure that rugby league is a sustainable sport in the country.

The competition which starts next weekend will run through for 11 weeks in all the zones before the quarterfinals begin in April.
