Rugby builds national character: Bainimarama

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says that Fiji’s dedication to sport and fitness is one of the strongest building blocks of our national character and rugby plays a big role in that.

Bainimarama was the chief guest at the opening of the Fiji Rugby Union Development Workshop at the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort in Sigatoka this morning.

The Prime Minister, who is also the current FRU President, says that in developing the sport with an eye toward world competitions, the social values that are derived from rugby cannot be ignored.

The workshop, which is part of the Leading Rugby program initiated by World Rugby, helps unions with governance, administration, participation, high performance, women’s rugby and finances.
