Rewa stuns Suva in BOG opener

The Rewa football side has made a perfect start in the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants beating Suva 2-1 in its opening match at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Sairusi Nalaubu was the hero for the side scoring both the goals in each half.

Suva’s Fred Osifelo pulled one back but was not enough to win the match.

Rewa Coach Lorima Dau says despite missing Setareki Hughes, Amani Makoe and goalkeeper Manasa Waqavou, his side came strong against their opponents.

“We came with a plan and managed to win the match. We all trusted in each other and played to our level best.”

Rewa goalkeeper Apete Ravadolo who made his debut was the king pin in the game.

The 19-year-old says with the help of the players he was managed display a good game.

“The experience players helped me and told me dont panic. I told the boys just to mark the players and I help in keeping a clean sheet. I also want to thank my mum who has been motivating me.”

Rewa plays Nadi in its second match at 4pm tomorrow.

In the other games today, Nadi is currently playing Dreketi, at 6pm Lautoka faces Tavua and at 8pm Labasa meets Ba.
