Rewa comeback ends in draw with Ba

The Rewa and Ba football side’s played to a 2-all draw in a fiery encounter in the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

The Men in Black raced to an early 2-0 lead courtesy of a goal each to Malakai Tiwa and Avinesh Swamy.

Rewa striker, Iosefo Verevou pulled one back for the hosts with a penalty goal as Ba went into halftime, leading 2-1.

Veteran Lorima Dau scored the equalizer for Rewa in the 53rd minute to the delight of the fans as both teams went toe-to-toe to try and score the winning goal.

But it was to no avail as the fixture ended in a 2-all draw.

Labasa started its campaign on a high note, defeating Nadroga 2-0 with a goal each to Taione Kerevanua and Christopher Wasasala.

The side will miss the services of skipper, Taniela Waqa in their next match against Rewa tomorrow after receiving two yellow cards in tonight’s match.

Meanwhile in other results today, Jedi’s Suva and Jacks Nadi played to a 1-all draw while the match between Tailevu Naitasiri and Shop’n’Save Lautoka ended in a goal-less draw.

Tomorrow, Ba will take on Nadroga at 1pm followed by the clash between Tailevu Naitasiri and Suva at 3pm.

Nadi battles Lautoka at 5pm before Rewa meets Labasa at 7pm.
