Replacements called in for New Zealand 7's

New Zealand sevens coach Gordon Tietjens has called in three replacements for the Cape Town Sevens this weekend after his side was ravaged by injury in Dubai.

Five players are returning to New Zealand after sustaining injuries at the season-opening event.

The New Zealanders limped to a fourth-place finish with Captain Scott Curry, Tim Mickelson, Regan Ware, Gillies Kaka, and Sherwin Stowers all set to miss the next round in Cape Town.

The injuries started mounting from New Zealand’s first match of the tournament against France.

They have been replaced in the sevens squad by Antonio Kirikiri and Ambrose Curtis of Manawatu rugby club and Beaudein Waaka of Taranaki.

Meanwhile, Fiji plays Scotland at 9.59pm Saturday, they play Russia at 1.20am Sunday and the final pool match against Argentina will be at 5.03am Sunday.

The Cup quarter finals will start at 11.04pm Sunday, the Cup semis start at 3.34am Monday while the Cup final will kick off at 6.30am Monday.
