Fiji-born Sevu Reece was the hero for the Waikato side, scoring two tries in the championship final as they thumped Vilimoni Koroi’s Otago 36-13.

The Waikato side gets promoted to Premiership competition of the Mitre 10 after the win last night.

After dropping their first three games of the season, Waikato embarked on a remarkable turnaround to win eight of their next nine matches on their way to the Championship title.

Meanwhile, in the Premiership final Auckland faces Canterbury at 3.05pm today.
