Fiji’s Australian Football League Chairman Leigh Howards is confident that AFL can be a career path for many youngsters.

Howard says the development of the sport in Fiji has resulted in one of their player being handpicked by the Gold Coast SUNS Academy head coach last month.

17-year old Jone Radua came under the scouters’ radar during South Pacific Talent Camp in Australia earlier this month.

Howard says Radua is leading the pathway for many young Fijians.

“He was recently selected by the Gold Coast SUNS Academy talent squad. He’s over there in Brisbane at the moment competing. What this basically means is an incredible career path for AFL and he could be the next big thing playing in AFL.”

Howard says they will continue to help develop the sport in Fiji and hopes for more engagement from youths.
