Race fever hits Fiji

The Melbourne Cup fever is gripping Fiji already with the final 24 horses for the race to be announced on Saturday.

Betting agency Grants Waterhouse in Suva is working around the clock for the race, which stops the nation in Australia.

Grants manager Vijen Kumar says they expect this year’s race to be nothing short of a thriller.

“People are all keenly and eagerly waiting for this Melbourne Cup 2012 to run. We are busy organizing and preparing all the outlets and sites and which staff will be going to which branch and outlets. Coming back to the cup, the final field will be decided on Saturday night after the final races, which will be run during Saturday day time and from there we will tell you the final field for the cup.”

Meanwhile, you can watch the Melbourne Cup live on FBC TV from 3pm on Tuesday and the main race will also be live on Gold FM at 5pm.
