Qovu in French Rugby spotlight

November 11, 2012 12:01 am

The Flying Fijians will just have to learn from mistakes made in their 54-12 loss to England this morning ahead of the next match against Gloucester on Tuesday.

No comments could be reached from team management in London regarding the result, however, the Fiji Rugby Union is hot on the trail regarding club versus country battles.

Planet Rugby reports the FRU’s formal complaint to the French Rugby Union regarding Racing Metro club lock, Jone Qovu and his withdrawal from the November Test squad is beginning to flair.

Qovu was one of four French-based players the FRU requested to join them for the Northern tour.

The request was made to the FFR in September, Qovu informed the FRU of his unavailability through injury but then played for Racing in their T14 clash on October 27.

Racing Metro claims Qovu informed the FRU on a personal basis with no prompting from the club – therefore not having any responsibility for his actions.

The FFR has suspended Qovu from playing until December 4 – Racing Metro is now trying to uplift the suspension.
