Pundits take on Melbourne Cup

October 29, 2014 4:07 am

One of the top bets for the 2014 Melbourne Cup, The Offer, has been ruled out of the race by trainer Gai Waterhouse.

Lead trainer of the horse, Chris Armstrong, says with his horse not competing, there are some horses that may have the edge over the others.

“The Japanese horse Admire Rakti is very good in the Caufeild Cup and there is also the Australian Lucia Valentina who finished third in the same race and ran the fastest last 200 so they are two high class horses plus all the internationals.”

Gai Waterhouse also trained Fiorente who won the race last year.

The Melbourne Cup will be held next Tuesday.
