Auckland City football club skipper, Ivan Vicelich, says the inaugural OFC President’s Cup is a great boost for his team along with Vanuatu’s Amicale and the Vodafone Fiji Under-20 side.
The tournament gets underway in Auckland, New Zealand on Monday, with six teams taking part.
City, who are the Oceania champions, is one of the top bets to take out the crown.
He says the President’s Cup is a great tournament that’s been put together and it’s a big help for them in the build-up to the FIFA Club World Cup.
The former All White says it will also help Amicale and Fiji U-20 who have the OFC Champions League and FIFA U-20 World Cup coming up next year.
Meanwhile, the Fiji U20 will be playing Amicale in its opening match at the President’s Cup on Monday at 7.30pm.
The second pool match is against Busaiteen of Bahrain next Friday at 7.30pm.
