The race that stops Australia and many other countries will take place today.

The Melbourne Cup is Australia’s most prestigious annual Thoroughbred horse race.

It is a 3,200-metre race for three-year-olds and over, conducted by the Victoria Racing Club on the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

It is the richest “two-mile” handicap in the world, and one of the richest turf races.

Grants Betting Operations Manager, Vijen Kumar says, it is quite clear who’s the punters favourite this year.

“The field is now finalized. Last year’s winner Almandin is the clear favourite”

The Melbourne Cup race begins at 5pm today and you can watch it live on FBC TV.
