Chess Candidate Master Calvin Prasad clinched the first National Sports Day Blitz Championship title with 8 wins and a draw.

Goru Arvind finished as runner up while veteran Noel Adricula came in third.

Prasad, who lost for the first time this year in the Rajnesh Parmeshwar Memorial Open earlier this month, will lead a six member team to the Oceania Zonal Championship in Brisbane, Australia next month.

Other players in the squad are Australia-based Sanmogam Goundar, Adricula, Gloria Sukhu, Tianata Terubea and Sugandha Goswami.

The next local tournament will be the Courts Fiji Rapid Open on July 19.
