The Fiji Powerlifting team is fine tuning its preparation for the Oceania Championships in Sydney next week.

Team manager, Rajneel Prasad says Powerlifting Fiji returned with five gold medals at the previous Oceania meet.

He says although the team this time around is smaller, their ambitions are not.

“So at the moment we know that they can lift more than gold medal category, according to their weight we are doing beyond that, so we are doing very well.”

The team has been practicing under the watchful eye of Eliesa Irava and the training has been set so the lifts equal medal marks.

Lack of money saw the team number dropped from 12 athletes to just four.
