Police wins Sukuna Bowl

The Police rugby team proved too strong as they snatched the Sukuna Bowl from the Army at the ANZ Stadium in Suva last night.

Police beat Army 41-17 to win the Sukuna Bowl.

Timoci Sauvoli, Ropate Matai and Keponi Paul scored a try each for Police while Moses Tikoduadua ran over the score line for the Army before half time.

Police led 22-10 at the breather.

Eremasi Radodro then opened up the second spell with a converted try for Police while Ropate Matai and Josefa Kurukavu contributed a try each to extend their lead to 41-10.

Peni Raidre then made the final say for Army but it was not good enough to match up the Police score margin.

Eremasi Radrodro of Police was the Man of the Match.

Police Captain Jone Delana says The win did not come as a surprise as they came prepared to claim the bowl from the Army.

“We would like to thank the Lord for giving us strength. It was really a tough game and we thank the boys from Delainabua but we were well prepared for this game and we came prepared to hold back the Sukuna Bowl to the Police Family.”

Meanwhile, the Police side were crowned the new champions of the Sukuna Bowl development rugby challenge after defeating the RFMF development team 13-6.
