Poland goes down to Senegal 2-1

Senegal got Africa’s first win of the World Cup with a 2-1 victory over Poland in Moscow this morning.

The team won by two fortunate goals, a deflection, and a score by a player who was apparently unnoticed by the Poland defence.

Thiago Cionek is the first Polish player to score an own goal at a World Cup tournament taking Senegal into the lead 1-nil at halftime.

M’Baye Niang scored Senegal’s second goal to seal their victory while Poland’s lone goal came in the 86th minute of play.

Meanwhile, Senegal and Japan have three points each and are leading Group H.
