The Papua New Guinea women’s sevens rugby team will not allow the favoritism of sports get in their way as they prepare for the Oceania Rugby sevens tournament this weekend.
Team Coach Douglas Cruise says, the Kumuls preparation towards the Rugby League World Cup has taken over the support of their fans and the government.
“The national sport for PNG is rugby league so it makes it difficult for us to get proper funding from the government since they are all focussed on the rugby league world cup.”
The Oceania rugby sevens tournament will be held on Friday and Saturday at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.
