Samoa and France based player Piula Faa’salele says competing in the Pacific Nations Cup has really helped local players to develop their skills into another level.

This was after the majority of Islanders players were given contracts to play in overseas.

Faa’salele says this has also helped the Nations Cup to reach another level as the competition is more intense and tough.

“I think there are more depths in the island rugby now there is a lot of local players coming in through the system and representing their different islands especially a lot of locals picking up contracts to play overseas which is a positive for the islands.”

Meanwhile, Samoa takes on Tonga at 1 pm while Fiji battles Georgia at 3pm on Saturday at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.
