June 15, 2015 6:10 pm

Vodafone Fiji Under-23 football coach Juan Carlos Buzzetti says players in the current squad have a battle on their hands to make the final team for the Pacific Games.

The U23 side is currently playing in the Four Nations Friendship Cup in Vanuatu, minus players from the national Under-20 squad, which returned last week from the World Cup.

Buzzetti says he will be naming his team for the Pacific Games later this month.

“Everybody knows that their position is on the line for the Pacific Games, because we have certain players that will come in to join us from the Under 20. So the position is open to everybody. So many of the players have come in for the first time to represent their country so it is a good time for us identify and see the potential what they are doing and how they play.”

Meanwhile, Fiji drew 1-all with New Caledonia in its second match in Vanuatu yesterday.

The draw sees Fiji in second spot with two points after having drawn 1-all with the Solomon Islands in the first match.

Fiji has two points, two, behind leaders Vanuatu.

The side plays Vanuatu tomorrow in the final match at 4pm tomorrow.
