Plans to recruit renowned bowling mentor

Fiji Bowling Team Manager, Curtis Mar has commended former Australian coach, Robbie Dobbins for mentoring the side to a strong finish at the Asia Pacific Championships in New Zealand last month.

Mar says the 75 year-old offered his services for free during the Championships and plans are in place to secure his services again for future competitions.

“We need to negotiate with Sports Council because its abit unfair for him to come and do this totally free for us but what he has done for us in this trip to the Asia Pacific is completely free. So we are hoping that we will be able to convince him to come back and prepare the team for World Championships.”

He adds Dobbins has been overwhelmed with the performance of the team against other competitors at international level.

Meanwhile, the World Bowling Championships will be held on December 4th -11th next year in Christchurch.
