PG enters second week

The Pacific Games enters its second week today, which sees the first day of competition in seven sports: athletics, beach volleyball, bodybuilding, hockey, karate, lawn bowls and netball.

Gold medals will be decided in the women’s 5000m and men’s 3000m steeplechase, field medals in women’s pole vault and shot put as well as men’s javelin.

Heats will also be held in men’s and women’s 100m and 800m events.

Men’s and women’s beach volleyballers and hockey also get underway.

12 gold medals are on offer in bodybuilding and 11 in karate, while lawn bowls also starts.

In netball, Fiji meets Vanuatu at 7pm.

Competition in tennis, volleyball and women’s soccer also continue.
