Pearls make special visit

May 17, 2014 12:53 am

After a successful outing at the recent Digicel Tri-Series, the Fiji Pearls Netball side took time out this morning to visit patients at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.

The Matila Waqanidrola–led side spent the entire duration of the visit at the Lancaster Ward, which is dedicated to treating female patients.

Team manager Rubyanne Sorovaki says the visit is all part of the team’s social responsibility to the community.

“It’s more Fiji Netball’s chance to allow the girls to grow holistically not just as a player but to learn to grow in terms of how they can contribute to the community.”

National coach Julie Hoornweg is currently in New Zealand and will return on Monday for when the team resumes training for the Pacific Netball Series in Cook Islands.

The PNS will be held from June 2nd to the 7th.
