The Pacific Sports Minister’s meeting will now be hold annually and continually be chaired by Fiji.

This was confirmed today in parliament, followed by a question raised by Opposition MP Mohammed Dean asking Minister for Sports Laisenia Tuitubou in parliament on the update of the Pacific Sports Ministers Meeting that was hosted in the country in March.

The meeting usually happened after every two years and has now been changed and will be hosted annually.

In response to the question, Tuitubou says the participants from the region praised Fiji for hosting the two day meeting.

“The Minister honoured Fiji by asking us to continue to chair this Pacific Sports Meeting which will now meet annually.”

He adds they also resolved to establish a secretariat that will be hosted in Tonga to support the Minister’s ambitions plan.
